Advertisers don’t want to pay the same amount for ads on mobile as they do for Google's very popular desktop ads, which have been the main revenue generator.
The shift in the way consumers access the web has not been reflected in the amount Google are able to charge for mobile advertisements. However, Google expects mobile ad prices to catch up with PCs eventually as it gradually becomes simpler for consumers to buy products using smart phones and tablets.
Despite the concerns of investors and a considerable shares dip, chief executive, Larry Page, focused on the profits: "We completed another great quarter," he said. "We've got lots of product improvements done, especially on mobile. I'm also excited with progress on our emerging businesses."
It’s quite surprising news, advertisers need to get ahead of the trend, take a risk and go mobile; which is possibly what Google were predicting. However, if standard advertisement are working well for advertisers then they have no reason to change. It may take a big change for advertisers to warm to mobile advertising.
Perhaps they shouldn't have been so quick to shut down the Google Affiliate Network eh?

Figure for Desktop usage stayed the same, however mobile saw an 88 percent increase year-on-year. Potentially proving that the public are just consuming more and not necessarily changing their browsing habits.
It’s very much the same with the BBCs video content. A record 11 million out of a total 34 million video views came from their apps in March.
As well as the impressive figures above, the BBC was the most shared news brand on Twitter in March, with its stories being tweeted 2.7 million times across the globe. The second most shared brand on Twitter was the New York Times, with only 1.8 million tweets.
