Common Affiliate Mistakes

Published 09.11.2018  Author: J.D  Category: News

As a new affiliate, there are a number of obstacles you must surpass before you see any success, by reading this you will hopefully be able to avoid learning them the "hard way".

Don't Sell
The first thing is to ensure you are coming across as someone who is trying to help rather than selling something, as an affiliate your job is not to sell the product - your job is to send traffic to the sales page. A common mistake of new affiliates is to spam their links with various "BUY NOW!" text links without giving their readers a reason as to why they should. Consumers who land on your pages are often already on the fence on whether you want to part with your money or not and doing some final checks on what other people think of products.

Review pages are usually successful affiliate pages, as they nudge consumers in the right direction when they are unsure on if they want to buy something or not, quickly you will become a trusted source of product advice.

Personal Tracking
Although this may not seem important at first, its a good idea to add some form of personal tracking to your affiliate pages. This can be done using Tracking IDs or by creating multiple campaigns each with their own unique referral link, platforms such as EGASS are great for reporting on this sort of thing. If you create a different campaign for each of your websites, or even the pages on your websites - you are able to filter reports and find out which of you pages converts the best, refers most traffic and generally what pages you need to spend time focusing on.

Being awarded commission is a great feeling, but unless you are able to consistently reproduce it - you will not be as successful as you could be.

Offering Alternatives
Comparison is a great way to run your affiliate website, if you are promoting a product or service give your review on it but offer alternatives which you are also able to earn commission on. Your readers will believe you are giving them a completely honest review along with providing some helpful advice on what other alternatives there are, rather than just convincing them to spend money on the thing they are unsure on.

Affiliate Platforms
The affiliate software that is used by the company you are promoting is important to the affiliate, as mentioned in the "Personal Tracking" segment - some platforms offer additional ways to break down and better understand your traffic to allow you to become a better affiliate. We have a bunch of Affiliate Program Reviews on Internet-Affiliate which are well worth looking into, to ensure you are using a platform that not only has great commission plans but transparent reporting.

New Advertising Rules from Gambling Commission

Published 29.10.2018  Author: J.D  Category: News

There have been new rules implemented from Gambling Commission, which are being put in action from the 31st of October 2018. These will predominantly effect gambling companies and the way they can advertise. A lot of the rules remain the same - but from the end of October, they will be tougher action taken on breaches. The new rules provide a stronger protection for consumers and ensure they are treated fairly.

The changes mean that it will be easier to take action such as filing fines against gambling companies who break the advertising rules. Rules such as advertisement that appears to children or promoting gambling as a way to make money.
Along with their own marketing, gambling businesses will be responsible for the advertising strategies carried out by third party affiliates. The final advertising related change will be the fact more action can be taken against companies who send spam marketing emails or texts to consumers.

Moving on from the advertising changes, firms will be forced to provide a fairer complaints service, including an eight week deadline for complaints to be resolved. Once again, these rules will come with a quicker and easier system to deal with companies who break rules such as unfair and misleading practices or unreasonable restrictions on withdrawals.

Neil McArthur the Chief Executive of Gambling Commission said: "Protecting the interests of consumers is a priority for us and needs to be a priority for gambling operators. These changes will protect consumers from irresponsible advertising and misleading promotions, ensure that they can withdraw their money more easily, and will mean that firms have to deal with complaints more swiftly."
